Wally looking up lovingly

Thank you for inviting me to share our experience with Wally since his adoption.

When we were looking for a new fur baby, Wally was exactly what we were looking for. His small stature and playful personality immediately stole our hearts.

The first day Wally came home, I think he was very unsure of what was happening. The time change was difficult for him, and he kept us up most of the night pacing, jumping on our bed, and whimpering. This lasted for a few nights until he became more comfortable with me and my husband.

At first, Wally would not go near my husband and barked at him constantly. It actually took about six months for Wally to truly warm up to him — and now they are best friends.

Wally is such a love bug. He absolutely adores my grandchildren, although we are still working on stopping his excited jumping whenever they come to visit. We've also trained him to come to bed when we do. In fact, if we are not headed upstairs by 9:30 p.m., he lets us know it's bedtime! He is incredibly smart.

One of the sweetest things Wally does when he wants attention is gently tap you with his paw, then immediately roll over for endless belly rubs. He could lay there forever getting his belly rubbed. And that adorable little underbite smile just melts our hearts every single time.

There are so many wonderful dogs waiting for adoption. Rescue dogs simply want love, patience, and attention. Giving them a home makes them feel safe and special. Yes, there can be challenges in the beginning, but they become such an incredible addition to your family.
