Belle

I adopted Belle a little over a year ago from Never Alone Animal Rescue. She's such a great dog. When I found her, I had a two-year-old puppy and a senior dog with a terminal illness. I knew my puppy would need a companion soon. When I read Belle's bio on Petfinder, I knew she was the right dog for my family. And I really liked the fact that she had been fostered. What her foster family learned about her and wrote in her bio was accurate.

NAAR clearly has a passionate mission to rescue dogs from the far east. When I applied to adopt Belle, they thoroughly vetted me — which I appreciated. They clearly care deeply about the animals they rescue and want to find them the right forever home and family.

Miss Belle has brought so much joy to our home. And she's so smart too! When she first came into the family, the senior dog — who was now blind due to diabetes and Cushing's — got caught and tangled up in some computer wires. I heard Belle barking to get my attention. When I walked into the room to see what was going on, Belle was guiding the senior dog with her voice — to help her get untangled! She's so special!

And yes — she was shy at first, as she had been through a lot, having been rescued from a kill shelter in Korea. But she adjusted quickly and has come so far! I am so glad to have her!

If you are considering adopting a pet from the far east, know that they have been through a lot. Be patient with them and invest in getting them trained and socialized without overwhelming them. I am very glad I did this with Belle — and while she can still be shy at first with strangers, she's a super happy dog!
